Education in the world: LEARN Network

Education Through Local Partnerships

For more than 25 years, Mission Bambini has worked with local organizations to help children and young people access quality education around the world.

Building on this experience, in 2026 Mission Bambini launched LEARN, a global network bringing together 15 organizations across Europe, Africa, Asia and Latin America.

LEARN connects organizations rooted in their communities to share knowledge, strengthen local expertise and expand educational opportunities for children facing barriers to learning.

The Challenge

Around the world, millions of children are unable to attend school or continue their education because of conflict, forced displacement, poverty and discrimination.

Some face sudden disruptions caused by humanitarian emergencies. Others encounter long-term social, cultural or gender barriers that limit their opportunities to learn.

LEARN was created to respond to both: helping protect access to education during crises while addressing the structural barriers that keep children out of school.

How LEARN works

LEARN is built around long-term collaboration with local organizations that understand the needs, strengths and challenges of their communities.

Local Partnerships: programs are developed together with local partners, combining their knowledge of the community with Mission Bambini’s experience and resources.
Capacity Building: LEARN goes beyond financial support. The network promotes training, knowledge sharing and skills development so that partner organizations can become stronger and more sustainable over time.
Education in Emergencies and Beyond: the network works to protect learning opportunities during emergencies and post-emergency situations while also responding to longer-term barriers to education.

In its first year, LEARN is focusing on education in emergencies, capacity building and global awareness around the right to education.

What We Support

Depending on the needs of each community, education programs can help cover:

school fees, books, uniforms and educational materials;
meals and residential care where needed;
improvements to schools and educational facilities;
equipment and resources that create safer, more effective learning environments.

A focus on girls’ education

Gender can still be a major barrier to education.

Through Borse Rosa Program, Mission Bambini supports girls and young women in completing secondary school, vocational training or university, helping them continue their education and build greater independence.

In 2025, 171 girls were supported through the program.
